The Bank Hospital has firmly denied claims that it breached patient confidentiality in the medical care of the late Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who died at the facility on July 26, 2025.
In a statement issued on July 31, the hospital described the allegations as false and defamatory. The accusations surfaced online, reportedly made by social media personality Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, also known as Afia Schwarzenegger. She alleged that the hospital mishandled sensitive information related to Daddy Lumba’s health.
“The Bank Hospital is an internationally accredited healthcare institution, staffed by highly dedicated and professional personnel. We pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of medical care to all patients,” the hospital’s management stated.
They emphasised that Daddy Lumba was treated with full professionalism and respect for his privacy. His family, the hospital added, was actively involved and remained present throughout his stay, from the moment of admission to his death.
“At The Bank Hospital, transparency and patient-centred care are core values. Mr. Fosu's family was involved and present throughout his medical care, from admission to his unfortunate passing,” the statement said.
The hospital also explained that it conducts routine post-event reviews after a patient’s passing. This process helps evaluate care delivery and identify any areas for improvement. According to the statement, any relevant findings from these internal reviews would be shared directly with the family, in line with best practices and ethical standards.
“Appropriate internal procedures have been initiated, and relevant information will be disclosed to the family in a manner consistent with ethical medical practice and respect for patient confidentiality,” the management noted.
Finally, the hospital urged the public to be cautious when consuming or sharing health-related information on social media. It encouraged individuals to verify such claims through credible channels before making them public, especially when it involves sensitive issues like patient privacy.
The Bank Hospital’s response underscores its commitment to upholding professional medical ethics while supporting the family of the late artist during this difficult time.
