Kariobangi North Member of County Assembly (MCA) Joel Munuve has died after suddenly falling ill on his way to town.
The news of his death was confirmed by Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Robert Alai. According to Alai, Munuve was being driven to town by a friend when he began to complain of pain.
“He was picked from home by a friend, Peter, but on the way coming to town he started complaining of some pain. He just died in front of the hospital here,” Alai said.
Munuve’s sudden death has come as a shock to the county leadership and residents of Kariobangi North. He was described by his colleagues as a dedicated public servant who was passionate about serving his ward.
Details about the exact cause of his death have not been made public. However, it is reported that Munuve's condition worsened quickly while he was still in the vehicle, and efforts to rush him to a hospital were unsuccessful.
The Kariobangi North MCA was taken to the hospital after experiencing discomfort, but he died shortly after arriving at the facility. Alai, who was among the first leaders to speak on the matter, expressed deep sadness over the sudden loss.
The Nairobi County Assembly is expected to issue an official statement and organize tributes in Munuve’s honor. His colleagues have described him as approachable, committed, and always present in matters affecting his constituents.
Mourners and fellow leaders have started sending their condolences to the family and friends of the late MCA. Many residents of Kariobangi North also took to social media to express their grief and share messages of support for his family.
Munuve’s passing marks a significant loss for the community he served and for the Nairobi County Assembly. Funeral arrangements and further updates are expected to be shared by the family and county leadership in the coming days.
