Tensions Rise as Israel Poised to Strike Iran Within Days

Israel may be just days away from launching a military strike on Iran, according to U.S. sources speaking to Lebanese broadcaster Al Mayadeen on June 11. The reported move appears linked to the Trump administration’s efforts to pressure Tehran over its nuclear programme, with growing signs of a regional escalation.

Amid the rising tensions, the U.S. has begun an emergency evacuation of diplomats from Iraq and is preparing to withdraw military personnel from Kuwait and Bahrain. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has also authorised the voluntary departure of military family members from U.S. facilities across the region, according to a June 11 statement from the U.S. Central Command. The command added that it is "monitoring the developing tension in the Middle East."

U.S. President Donald Trump held a high-level security meeting at the White House with senior military officials as the crisis deepened. Tehran believes this is part of Washington’s strategy to pressure Iran into making concessions ahead of a possible meeting.

White House spokesman Anna Kelly later said the State Department’s decision to review and adjust the presence of U.S. personnel abroad was part of a recent review of security conditions in the region.

Tensions have been further stoked by Iranian claims that it has obtained sensitive information about Israel’s missile and nuclear programmes. Reports from Tehran suggest that Israel is trying to prevent Iran from releasing this intelligence, which it alleges exposes secret nuclear activities.

According to The Jerusalem Post, some Western intelligence sources suspect that Iran is deliberately slowing negotiations with the U.S. to buy time and prepare for possible strikes on its own nuclear sites.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard naval force has declared full combat readiness. Commander-in-Chief Major General Hossein Salami said the navy had reached high levels of preparedness due to the tireless work of its forces. He praised a recent intelligence operation, claiming it showed Iran had successfully infiltrated Israeli intelligence networks during Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm.”

Salami stressed the strategic importance of the Persian Gulf, calling it a core defensive zone. He said Iran’s naval forces are now capable of managing both close-range and long-distance confrontations effectively.

Following his remarks, the UK’s Maritime Agency issued a warning to vessels in the Persian Gulf, urging them to remain on high alert.

Negotiations between Iran and the U.S., mediated by Oman, have been ongoing since April 12. While Iran insists on its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, the U.S. is demanding a full dismantling of its nuclear programme.
