Scottie Scheffler had to dig deep on Sunday at Quail Hollow but still came out on top with a dominant win. The world’s No. 1 golfer secured his third major title at the PGA Championship with a five-shot victory, cementing his place as the best player in the game right now.
Scheffler shot an even-par 71 in the final round, finishing strong after a few tense moments early in the back nine. The win adds to his growing legacy, as he became the first player since Seve Ballesteros to win his first three major titles by at least three shots each.
Although the scoreboard showed a comfortable lead by the end, it was far from a smooth ride. Scheffler entered the final round with a six-shot advantage, and it looked like another runaway performance. But after a couple of bogeys and a charge from Jon Rahm — who made three birdies in four holes — the two were tied as they reached the 10th tee.
From there, Scheffler regained control. He returned to his consistent style, hitting fairways and greens while avoiding mistakes. His calm under pressure helped him build back a four-shot lead as his rivals faltered. Bryson DeChambeau tried to keep the pressure on, but couldn’t close the gap.
Scheffler’s final-hole bogey didn’t matter. With the tournament already decided, he raised his arms in celebration on the 18th green and slammed his cap into the turf, releasing the tension that had built throughout the round.
This victory marks a major milestone in Scheffler’s career. He won his first Masters in 2022, followed by another Augusta triumph last year. Now, with a PGA Championship title in hand, his dominance in golf’s biggest tournaments is clearer than ever.
While the day had its tense moments, Scheffler proved once again why he’s the top-ranked golfer in the world — steady, focused, and able to deliver when it counts the most.
