Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham Reissue Long-Lost 1973 Album

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham have confirmed the long-awaited reissue of their 1973 debut album Buckingham Nicks. This marks the first official U.S. release of the album in all formats—digital, CD, and vinyl—since the early 1980s.

Last week, fans noticed cryptic messages on the former Fleetwood Mac members’ Instagram pages. When combined, the posts read, “And if you go forward… I’ll meet you there,” a lyric from the song Frozen Love, which appears on the album. This sparked online speculation about a potential reunion between the two artists, who haven’t collaborated since Buckingham was fired from Fleetwood Mac seven years ago.

On Wednesday, Nicks and Buckingham posted a video showing a billboard promoting the reissue going up in Los Angeles. They also announced the first track from the remastered album, Crying In The Night, is now available for streaming.

Originally released just before they joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974, Buckingham Nicks was a commercial flop. Polydor Records dropped the duo shortly after, and the album hasn’t been officially released since a 1981 vinyl pressing. Over the years, fans have only had access through bootlegs or unofficial versions.

The new reissue is being handled by Rhino High Fidelity, a premium vinyl label known for high-quality remasters. The album will be released on September 19. It includes new liner notes by renowned music journalist David Fricke, featuring fresh interviews with both artists.

“We knew what we had as a duo,” Nicks said in a press release. “Two songwriters that sang really well together—it was a very natural thing from the beginning.” Buckingham added that the album “stands up in a way you hope it would, by these two kids who were pretty young to be doing that work.”

Fans can now pre-order two versions: a standard edition (limited to 5,000 copies) and a deluxe edition that includes two 7-inch singles, Crying In The Night and Don’t Let Me Down Again, limited to 2,000 copies.

The remastered audio was sourced directly from the original analog master tapes recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles.
