Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara was presented in court after spending the night in police custody, according to her lawyer.
The MP was reportedly brought to the Milimani Law Courts early in the morning around 7:00 am. However, according to her advocate, Ndegwa Njiru, she was not processed through the standard procedures at the holding cells. “We are at Milimani, at around 7:00 am, the client was brought here but held at the parking. She wasn’t booked at the Milimani holding cells,” the lawyer said.
Ndegwa further stated that at approximately 8:20 am, Kihara was quickly taken away from the court premises in a green Subaru vehicle, and her destination was not disclosed. “She was at around 8:20 am whisked away in a green Subaru to an unknown destination. We are stranded,” Ndegwa added.
The reasons behind Kihara’s arrest or detention have not been made public, and there has been no official communication from the police or government authorities regarding the matter. The move to whisk her away without being formally presented in court or held in known custody has raised concern among her legal team.
The incident has sparked questions over transparency in the handling of the MP’s case and has drawn attention from both legal and political observers. Her legal representatives are demanding answers about her whereabouts and why due process was not followed.
Jayne Kihara is the elected MP for Naivasha Constituency and is known to be a vocal figure in the political scene. Her unexpected detention and mysterious transfer have prompted speculation, but no clear details have emerged so far.
As of now, her legal team remains at Milimani Law Courts awaiting further information. The incident continues to unfold, with growing calls for accountability and clarification from law enforcement agencies regarding the MP’s legal status and well-being.
