
The 2025 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles celebrated television’s biggest names, with Adolescence, Severance, The Pitt and The Studio among the evening’s most recognized productions. The ceremony highlighted outstanding performances across drama, comedy, limited series, and variety categories.
In the drama section, The Pitt from HBO Max triumphed as Outstanding Drama Series, defeating The Last of Us, Severance, and The White Lotus. Noah Wyle secured Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Pitt, while Britt Lower’s performance in Apple TV+’s Severance won her Best Lead Actress. Supporting honors went to Tramell Tillman (Severance) and Katherine LaNasa (The Pitt), strengthening both shows’ standing.
Comedy also had its standout moments. Apple TV+’s The Studio claimed Outstanding Comedy Series, with Seth Rogen winning Best Lead Actor and Seth Rogen himself also winning for directing. Jean Smart took home Best Lead Actress for Hacks, while her co-star Hannah Einbinder earned Supporting Actress. Jeff Hiller of Somebody Somewhere surprised many by winning Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy.
The limited and anthology category was dominated by Netflix’s Adolescence, which won Outstanding Limited Series. Stephen Graham’s performance earned him Best Lead Actor, with Cristin Milioti from The Penguin named Best Lead Actress. Supporting roles in this field were won by Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty, both recognized for Adolescence. The show also won Outstanding Writing, with Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham taking the prize, while Philip Barantini won Best Directing.
Other notable wins included The Traitors as Outstanding Reality Competition Program, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver winning Outstanding Scripted Variety Series, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert taking home Best Talk Series. In writing categories, Dan Gilroy won for Andor in drama, while Adolescence again impressed with its award for limited series writing.
The 2025 Emmy Awards also honored achievements in directing, with Adam Randall winning for Slow Horses in drama and Philip Barantini recognized for Adolescence.
The night showed a balance between streaming platforms and networks, highlighting the variety of talent shaping today’s television. From newcomers like The Pitt to returning favorites such as Hacks, this year’s Emmys celebrated both fresh and established storytelling power.
