Rich's Ice Cream Recalls Bars in 23 States Over Listeria Risk

Rich's Ice Cream is recalling over 110,000 cases of its frozen dessert bars in 23 U.S. states due to concerns about potential listeria contamination, which can lead to serious illness if consumed.

The recall began in June but was recently updated and classified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a Class II recall. This means the affected products could cause temporary or medically reversible health problems. Although no illnesses have been reported so far, the FDA says the recall remains active and under monitoring.

The recalled products were distributed in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. The ice cream bars were also shipped to Nassau in the Bahamas.

The products involved in the recall include several popular flavors and varieties. Each is labeled with Lot Numbers ranging from #24351 to #25156. Customers are advised to stop consuming these items and safely dispose of them. The recalled products are:

Chocolate Crunch Cake Bar

Strawberry Shortcake Bar

Rich Bar

Crumbled Cookie Bar

Orange Cream Bar

Fudge Frenzy Bar

Cotton Candy Twirl Bar

Savagely Sour Blue Raspberry Bar

Savagely Sour Cherry Bar

Cool Watermelon Bar

Those seeking more details or label information can visit the Rich’s Ice Cream website.

Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria behind listeria infections, can cause serious symptoms, particularly in vulnerable groups. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), symptoms may include fever, headaches, muscle aches, confusion, stiff neck, fatigue, and in some cases, seizures or difficulty walking. Pregnant people, newborns, seniors, and individuals with weakened immune systems are especially at risk of severe illness.

Consumers who believe they may have consumed a recalled product and are experiencing any symptoms should seek medical attention. The recall is part of an ongoing commitment by health authorities and manufacturers to maintain food safety and protect the public from potential health threats.
