Jude Bellingham to Miss 12 Weeks After Shoulder Surgery

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is expected to be out of action for up to 12 weeks following shoulder surgery.

Bellingham, who has been playing through discomfort for several months, recently shared his frustration with the ongoing pain and the need for a shoulder brace during matches. “I’ve got to the point where I’m fed up with the brace, and having to tug on it and having [other] players tug on it, and it rearranging all the time,” he said during the Club World Cup.

The 21-year-old England international has been a key figure for Real Madrid this season, delivering consistent performances in both La Liga and the Champions League. Despite the injury, he continued to play through the pain while using the shoulder support, but the situation has now reached a stage where surgery became necessary.

Bellingham’s absence comes at a crucial point in the season, with Madrid competing for top honours domestically and in Europe. Losing a player of his influence, creativity, and work rate is a significant setback for manager Carlo Ancelotti and the club’s title ambitions.

Since joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund, Bellingham has quickly become a fan favourite, making a strong impact with goals, assists, and commanding midfield play. His maturity on the pitch has been praised by coaches and teammates alike, and his recovery will be closely monitored by both the club and the England national team ahead of international fixtures.

The expected 12-week recovery timeline means Bellingham could miss key fixtures in La Liga and potentially the latter stages of the Champions League knockout rounds, depending on Real Madrid’s progression. The club has yet to release an official statement detailing the surgery or the specific recovery plan, but sources confirm that medical staff are optimistic about his return before the end of the season.

Real Madrid will now look to its midfield depth to cover for Bellingham’s absence. Players such as Luka Modrić, Federico Valverde, and Eduardo Camavinga may be called upon to take on greater responsibility during this period.
