Police Arrest Female Kidnapper, Three Others in Anambra Raid

Police in Anambra State have arrested a female suspect and three others linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, and car theft.

The arrests were made on May 9, 2025, at around 7:30 p.m., when officers from the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu raided a suspected criminal hideout in Uke, Idemili South Local Government Area. The operation followed actionable intelligence that led the team directly to the gang’s location.

Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Saturday evening. He identified the four suspects as Chinaza Udemezue, Chigozie Udolisa (also known as T. Dollars), Anaolu Joseph (alias Blue), and Chukwuka Udolisa (alias Udokamiri). The suspects are between 19 and 28 years old.

During the raid, police recovered several items, including three vehicles believed to be stolen: a black Lexus GS 350 with registration number ENU 561 LY, an ash-colored Toyota Camry with plate number UWN 614 HK, and a navy blue Toyota Corolla registered as UMZ 135 AD. Officers also found an HP laptop, a car spraying machine, motor wires, and quantities of methamphetamine, locally known as Mkpurummiri.

The suspects reportedly confessed to being part of a larger network involved in kidnapping, car snatching, and armed robbery. Chinaza Udemezue told investigators that her boyfriend managed to escape the scene with their weapons when he saw the police approaching.

Ikenga stated that the suspects are now undergoing interrogation as the police work to gather more information on the gang’s activities and locate others still at large.

He also assured the public that the Anambra State Police Command remains committed to cracking down on criminal activity and ensuring the safety of residents. “We will continue to act swiftly on credible intelligence to dismantle criminal syndicates threatening peace in the state,” he said. Investigations are ongoing, and police say more arrests are likely in the coming days.
