Lagos police have arrested popular TikToker Peller after a live-streamed reckless driving incident that led to a serious road crash.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of Habeeb Hamzat, widely known online as “Peller,” following a viral video that circulated on Sunday, December 14, 2025. In the footage, Peller was seen driving in a highly reckless manner before being involved in a dangerous road crash that resulted in a serious motor accident. The incident was broadcast live on social media, drawing widespread public attention and concern.
According to the police, Peller’s actions not only endangered his own life but also posed a serious threat to other road users. The command described the incident as a deliberate act that amounted to an attempted suicide, noting that innocent members of the public were put at risk by his conduct. Authorities said the decision to livestream such behavior further aggravated the situation, as it promoted dangerous and unlawful actions.
The police confirmed that Peller is currently being held for further investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). Officials stated that investigations are ongoing and that the findings will be made public once concluded. After the investigation, the suspect will be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction in line with existing laws.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a strong warning to social media influencers, content creators, and members of the public. He cautioned against using social media platforms to engage in, encourage, or glorify reckless, dangerous, or criminal behavior. According to the commissioner, such actions will not be tolerated, and offenders will face the full weight of the law.
The police command emphasized that online popularity or influence does not place anyone above the law. Authorities stressed that social media should not be used in ways that threaten public safety or encourage unlawful conduct, especially on public roads where lives are at stake.
In addition, the Lagos State Police Command urged all motorists and road users to strictly obey traffic rules and regulations at all times. The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public peace, protecting lives, and ensuring safety across the state.
The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, reiterated that law enforcement agencies will continue to act decisively against any individual whose actions put the public in danger.
The police said the incident serves as a reminder that reckless driving and dangerous stunts, whether offline or online, carry serious legal consequences.
