Comedian and content creator Baba Kaunty has officially announced his departure from the Oga Obinna Show, citing scheduling conflicts with new commitments.
In a heartfelt message on social media, Baba Kaunty explained that the decision was not easy, and he had been thinking about it since the beginning of the year. He revealed that the show, which airs primarily on Mondays, clashed with a training program he had committed to for the next few months.
“It was my own decision to leave the Obinna Show. It has been a tough decision that I have been thinking about hard since the beginning of this year,” he shared. “I did not have the words to tell Obinna that there are other things I have to do on Mondays.”
Baba Kaunty took time to express his deep appreciation for Oga Obinna, crediting him with playing a key role in shaping his career. He reminisced about joining the show during its earlier days, before it was rebranded.
“When I joined the team, Obinna took me as his brother, he taught me a lot and he also gave me a brand,” he said.
The comedian initially gained popularity for his role as a waiter, serving drinks to guests during interviews. His character, known as “Mama Kaunty,” was a cross-dressing persona featuring makeup and a feminine voice. However, after receiving backlash for the act, he transitioned to “Baba Kaunty” and eventually dropped the role altogether.
Despite stepping away from the show, Baba Kaunty remains grateful for the experience and the opportunities it provided. He acknowledged that working with Obinna had helped him grow both personally and professionally. While he moves on to new projects, Baba Kaunty’s fans will be eager to see what he does next, as he continues to carve out his space in the comedy and entertainment industry.
